Phyllis Mensh Brostoff, MSW

I provide professional coaching, virtually, to empower families facing challenges in caring for elderly or disabled relatives and friends.

If you are responsible for the care of a frail spouse, a disabled adult child, a sibling, partner, other family member or friend, I can help:

•  prioritize the problems you are confronting,

•  identify and navigate the choices you are considering,

•  find needed resources,

•  manage your stress.

I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Welfare; taught Social Work practice and care for the elderly at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; authored articles in professional journals and books addressing issues in aging, social work and professional ethics; and served on the committee that drafted the first major revision of the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers.  In the 1980s I co-founded a geriatric care management company (Stowell Associates), was its CEO through 2017 and, after its sale that year, a consultant through 2021. Stowell Associates provided assistance to hundreds of families in southeastern Wisconsin for 40 years.  In addition, I was a co-founder, Board Member and President of a national organization in the field — the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA; formerly the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, NAPGCM).
